A VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone makes and receives calls over your internet connection instead of a traditional phone line. It looks and works like a normal desk phone — it just plugs into your network rather than a wall socket, and connects to your RingPlus system in the cloud.

Can I transfer my existing number from BT or another provider?

Yes. You can port your existing number to RingPlus from BT and most other providers. We manage the transfer end-to-end for a £20 one-off fee — you'll just need a recent bill to verify ownership, and ports complete in up to 21 working days.

How quickly is my account activated?

Usually immediately, and at most within a few hours of completing your online registration. New numbers are live straight away; ported numbers keep working with your old provider until the transfer completes.

How much bandwidth do VoIP calls need?

Very little. A call using the high-quality G.711 codec uses roughly 80–100 kbps, while the compressed G.729 codec needs only 24–32 kbps. Even a modest broadband connection comfortably handles several simultaneous calls.
